Welcoming Cienna Ditri to Project Sleep’s Board of Directors

Please welcome Cienna Ditri to the Board of Directors of Project Sleep, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of sleep health and sleep conditions.

“Project Sleep is a trailblazing organization for sleep health and sleep disorders, and I am honored to help move the organization’s mission forward as a member of the board,” said Ditri. “I am passionate about bringing people together to be the change that they want to see in this world, and I am thrilled to do so on behalf of Project Sleep.”

About Cienna:

Cienna is a 25-year-old disability advocate, who has about as many chronic illnesses as she is years old, including narcolepsy and sleep apnea caused by congenital central hypoventilation syndrome. Cienna has a service dog who has saved her life more times than she can count, a diaphragm pacemaker that keeps her breathing, and has overcome Guillain Barre Syndrome. Cienna spends just as much time with her doctors as she does with her friends, but she hasn’t let any of that slow her down in the slightest. She currently resides in Michigan with her dogs, Piper and Opie, and attends Saginaw Valley State University where she is majoring in Music.

Over the past three years, Cienna has built a strong social media presence and uses her platform to raise awareness for chronic conditions. She is passionate about turning clicks into real life actions, and through her platform, she has catalyzed movements that give a voice to people with chronic conditions.  As the communications manager for Fight Like A Warrior, Cienna holds meetings, leads projects, curates the newsletter, and helps team members to create work at their full potential.

Getting Involved with Project Sleep:

Cienna first got involved with Project Sleep during the 2018 Sleep In. By 2019, she became part of the event, participating in a live interview and reading her favorite bedtime story to all Sleep In Participants. Cienna has participated in several advocacy campaigns with Project Sleep, including meeting with Senator Stabenow to discuss sleep disorder research funding. After a successful meeting, Cienna was invited by Senator Stabenow to be a special guest and speaker at her health care forum.

“Cienna is a skilled communicator, passionate advocate and compassionate community leader in the broader healthcare space,” said Julie Flygare, J.D., President & CEO of Project Sleep.  “Her keen understanding of what inspires a younger generation to action makes her an ideal new addition to Project Sleep’s Board of Directors. Cienna’s contribution will propel our organization toward our vision: to make sleep cool!”

Joining in the congrats and wishing you Cienna and others in project Sleep all the best, as a grand-daddy of a lovely and lively 6-month old CCHS baby girl in Oslo, Norway.
I was searching for information for her mother, my daughter, on medical service dogs, with a view of her later life, and got to know about you and the project too.
There are active groups of parents, experts etc on CCHS in Scandinavia, also in social media: but we can learn from activities in US, including those in the international CCHS Network.
I particularly hope that research, development, practice and social commitment (of which dogs are an example) will flourish hand in hand, to enrich lives with rare conditions, in sleep and beyond.
